A long-awaited study on the future of Lake Somerville is now available.
In May, News 3 told you how the Texas legislature had directed the Brazos River Authority and Lower Colorado River Authority to look into the economic possibilities of the Lake. They did, and created a 450-page report.
It lists the goals as turning Lake Somerville into a highly sought after recreational and tourist attraction in Texas. Also, establishing a Burleson, Washington, Lee tri-county task force to identify tourism opportunities and strategies. And create a non-profit foundation to raise funding for the Lake.
Some of the preliminary recommendations include amenities like a water park, a new golf course and retirement village.
The report can be found here on the Brazos River Authority's Website.
