With the Lake Somerville economic plan unveiled on Monday, word about the possible upgrades is welcomed news in the area.
David Olvera of Sealy has been coming to the lake for years and he's all for making it a tourist destination.
"I think it would be a good idea. There could be more things to do and if there's more things to do, I would come here more often. It would attract more people and I'm sure the families around here would appreciate it," said Olvera.
Richard Josey grew up in Bryan and he remembers when the lake was built. He says the lake has come a long way and could go even further.
"It's improved some but I think it needs some more improvement," said Josey.
Residents of Somerville are also for the change but some worry that the economic plan is all talk.
"I think it's a great idea to let them in but I don't know who has the say so," said resident John Houser.
In fact any sign of improvement to the city of Somerville would be a welcomed sight to John who has lived in Somerville for 21 years.
"I heard they wanted to put a Sonic in here and I think they're having problems with that. It would be nice though because it tastes better than Dairy Queen," joked Houser.
