His crimes were unspeakable. The violence horrific.
Now a confessed rapist, who attacked women while they slept got his day in court.
Although Frank Powell, 37, pleaded guilty to raping two College Station women and then trying to escape from jail, the case isn't over.
Prosecutors Tuesday told the court Powell brutally attacked his victims, taking away their right to decide what happens to them.
"It's every woman's worst nightmare," Prosecutors told the court. "Only for most women it's just that, a nightmare."
Frank Powell shows little emotion as the state depicts the horrifying moments each of his victims went through the morning he entered their homes.
Back in February, his first victim was at home asleep when Powell entered her bedroom.
"She awoke to a man tugging her arm," Prosecutors said. "The defendant had crawled into her apartment threatened to kill her if she didn't follow his instructions."
That's when Powell raped the young woman in her College Station home.
Then just a few weeks later Powell preyed on yet another young woman, home alone.
"Little did she know he had been watching her since the time she got home, until the time she went to bed," prosecutors said. "He crawled through the window, and gave her two options, to be raped or killed."
Prosecutors then say Powell tied up her hands and feet with electrical cords, shoved a sock in her mouth so she couldn't scream, and then raped her three times.
Similarities between the two cases instantly caught police attention. At both homes, the victims say latex gloves were used, and they were threatened with knives. Police also found similar shoe print patterns leading into both homes.
But it wasn't until police received a frantic call from a third woman saying her home was being broken into, that police zeroed in on Powell.
"I saw the defendant in the back window. He was standing at the back window he had something in his hands," a College Station Police Officer said. "He was making a scratching noise or fumbling around with something in his hands at the back window as if he was trying to take the hinge off."
When authorities arrested Powell, he was in possession of a screw driver, condoms, and latex gloves similar to the ones described in the previous assaults.
Authorities also say the shoes Powell was wearing at the time of his arrest were similar to the shoe print patterns found at the previous two homes.
The defense however, did try to discredit both the shoes, and gloves as evidence, stating that there are many people with similar shoes, and many different reasons Powell could have had the gloves in his possession.
Sentencing for Frank Powell continues Wednesday in the 361st District Court. All three victims are expected to take the stand at that time.
