A longtime Bryan police officer is hanging up his badge after 24 years on the job.

Officer John Jones retired Thursday and was honored at a reception. Jones began his career in 1984 and has since held positions in auxiliary services, patrol, and criminal investigations.

He isn't saying goodbye to law enforcement though. Jones will soon be joining the Grimes County Sheriff's Office.
