The nation's financial crisis hit close to home Friday as U.S. bank regulators closed Franklin Bank. As a result, local branches of First National Bank, which are part of the Franklin family, have also been temporarily closed.

Franklin is the 18th U.S. bank to go under this year. It'll be taken over by El Campo-based Prosperity Bank. That means Franklin customers will automatically become Prosperity Bank customers which will reopen at the former Franklin branch locations. Deposits will continue to be insured by the FDIC.

One of the questions many of you have is will you still be able to use your debit card.
New three checked into this and the answer is yes.

If you have any more questions about your account, you can call the FDIC toll free at 1-800-591-2845.
