As always, lots of fans were partying before Saturday's Texas A&M game; a few were also competing.
Six tailgating parties cooked up some scrumptious beef for the "Beef Up Your Tailgate" challenge.
Judges awarded points based on atmosphere, creativity and tailgate appearance, before awarding a $7,000 grill.
The contest was sponsored by the Texas Beef Council.
Hunter Shurtleff of College Station, took home the grill and bragging rights.
He calls his tailgate area Zone 416 because of his seats at Kyle Field.
Shurtleff is also a finalist in the national Tostitos "Beat My tailgate" challenge.
If he wins, he and seven of his friends will receive VIP tickets to the Tostitos Fiesta Bowl.
