A tragic accident in Grimes County claims the life of an 84-year-old woman.
It happened around 4 p.m. Friday at a home on FM 1774 near Plantersville.
Sheriff's officials say Mildred Brannon was burning debris in a ditch at her home, when she accidentally fell in.
When her 95-year-old husband, James Brannon, went to check on her, he found her in the ditch on fire.
James tried in vain to pull her out and was severely burned in the process. He was taken by Life Flight to Memorial Hermann Hospital in Houston.
Mildred Brannon was pronounced dead at the scene.
