An armed standoff in Iola ends without incident after authorities convince the suspect to surrender.

Billy Kessinger, Jr., 38, fled to his father's Iola home shortly before noon Monday after getting into a physical altercation with his wife at their Grimes County home.

When deputies tried to enter the house, they were met by Kessinger holding a rifle and demanding they get off the property.
Back up officers were called to surround the home occupied by Kessenger and his father while the Iola school campus was placed on lockdown.

After an hour of negotiating, the suspect put down his rifle and surrendered. Kessinger is charged with one count of aggravated assault and two counts of aggravated assault on a public servant.
