A 22-year old Marquez man will spend the next 10 years in prison after pleading guilty to intoxication manslaughter in Leon County.

Travis Treadway was only 20 when he downed several beers then climbed behind the wheel in the early hours of December 10, 2006.

Minutes later, he plowed into Teague resident Maegan Atchley, 17, who had stopped in front of Leon High School to help a stranded motorist.

In a sad twist, Atchley had become an outspoken advocate against underage drinking at her high school.
