Texas Rep. Rick Noriega's name is on a list of candidates for President-elect Barack Obama's remaining Cabinet posts.
The San Antonio Express-News reported Wednesday on its Web site that the Congressional Hispanic Caucus, in a bid to increase Latino
representation in the new administration, presented a slate of
Noriega is being touted for the secretary of Veterans Affairs
Noriega, a Democrat from Houston, last month lost his bid to
unseat Republican Sen. John Cornyn, who won a second term.
Also on the list is former Laredo Mayor Saul Ramirez for
secretary of Housing and Urban Development.
Obama on Wednesday announced New Mexico Gov. Bill Richardson as his commerce secretary.
Caucus leaders said Obama's legislative agenda could be in
jeopardy if Richardson is the only Hispanic in the Cabinet.
