What was supposed to be a nice outing for golden retrievers and their owners ended with an owner hauled off to jail.
JC Parks, of Mesquite has been charged with assault causing bodily injury, after he admitted to striking another man with a walking cane.
Police say the 71-year-old was attending an event Saturday at the Brannon Ranch for the Bryan/ College Station Retrievers Club.
The victim told police he and Parks began arguing when Parks refused to let his dog run in any more events, and that Parks struck him twice, when the victim attempted to tell Parks his dog would miss out.
Parks is out of jail on a $5,000 bond.
