About this time last month, lots of people were decking the halls. Saturday, they were decking the dumpster.

Residents of Bryan and College Station took advantage of Christmas tree recycling day. The trees will be turned into compost.

Everyone who brought a tree, got another in return.

"They're glad we're recycling trees, I mean everybody now a days wants to do their part, they're glad to get the little free sapling that comes along with them. We've had a few people ask for more than one and I don't have a problem with that," said Cody Cravatt, Operations Supervisor for the City of Bryan's Environmental Services.

Hundreds of trees were collected at both Sue Haswell Park in Bryan, and Central Park in College Station.
