On Monday crews got underway with the widening of the Campbell Creek bridge on Highway 6 two miles north of OSR.
The work will likely last to the end of the year, and will involve some lane closures and a speed reduction to 60 miles per hour, so TxDOT officials ask for patience and urge caution if you travel that route.
Ten-foot shoulders and a 16-foot median will be added to hopefully reduce accidents on that bridge, which is narrower than the road that approaches it.
TxDOT officials say the bridge rail has been hit numerous times in the past as a result of the make-up of the road.
The $2.5 million project is being done by A.L. Helmcamp, Inc. of Buffalo.
