Fire crews from across Robertson County converged north of Franklin as a grass fire scorched dozens of acres.
Just off of FM 979 near the Luminant plant, fire from trash being burned in a barrel behind a convenience store jumped into the dry grass. Winds spread the fire quickly.
Multiple units from area departments arrived on the scene, and along with people at the store and workers at the plant were able to fight back the fire.
In all, between 30 and 40 acres were damaged, though the store, a nearby trailer park and a natural gas line were spared.
Robertson County is currently under a burn ban, and the entire region is facing red flag warnings due to the dry conditions and wind.
