Leon County Beauty Competes in Miss America Pageant

Miss Texas may not have won Miss America, but she did take home a title from the annual competition.

Buffalo native Rebecca Robinson, who won Miss Texas 2008, won the honor of Miss Congeniality from her peers during the event Saturday in Las Vegas.

Robinson graduated from Texas A&M with a degree in Spanish.

The overall winner was, for the first time ever, Miss Indiana. Despite a throat infection and laryngitis, 22-year-old Katie Stam won the honor.

Miss Texas has been the Miss America winner three times in the pageant's history. Shirley Cothran was the last Texan to win in 1975.
