A Somerville man's cancer lawsuit, expected to get underway this month--has now been pushed back to April.

Attorneys for Dennis Davis say they asked for the extension after Davis' condition worsened, and cancer spread throughout his body.

They say the delay will allow time for him to get the treatment needed.

Those close to the case say the trial is now slated to begin at the end of the April.

Davis alleges that chemicals used by the Burlington Northern Sante Fe tie plant are responsible for his cancer.

More than a 100 cancer lawsuits had been filed against the plant.
