A new source of power is coming to Caldwell. The city announced it has signed a two-year agreement with New Jersey-based NRG to supply its wholesale electricity.

City officials say the change will not result in a rate increase for customers.

Caldwell began shopping for a new provider before its previous contract with Entergy expired December 31, 2008. To keep electricity flowing, the city signed a temporary agreement with Entergy to continue providing power until a long-term replacement could be found.
