Jail Escape to Serve As Wake-Up Call

A Brazos County inmate who escaped from jail is now facing more charges.

An escape charge has been added to 29-year-old Ronald Pennie's rap sheet, which already includes aggravated kidnapping, burglary and resisting arrest.

Pennie was captured Saturday morning after escaping from the Sandy Point jail facility Friday night.

According to Sheriff Chris Kirk, Pennie managed to escape after a counting error during the inmate's recreational time.

Kirk said that mistake will serve as a wakeup call for his staff.

They are also fixing a fence around the temporary recreation yard, which is being used while the jail is under construction.
