After weeks of waiting, a College Station couple finally underwent a life-changing surgery.
Mindy Sledge was wheeled into the operating room Wednesday morning to donate her kidney to husband Chris, who's battled kidney problems for years.
The surgery was originally set for around Valentine's Day but had to pushed back, after family members say some routine tests on Chris showed a low anti-body count.
Thursday, family members say Mindy is already up and walking around, and that Chris appears to be taking well to wife's kidney.
The couple received more than $7,000 of support from the local community, to help offset the costs while they both recover.
