A bizarre death is under investigation in Montgomery County involving police and a taser.
First responders were called to a home on Golden Oaks Drive in Conroe about 7 a.m. Saturday for a possible suicide. When they arrived, they found out 40-year-old Robert Welch of Houston had been shoving people at the home and wouldn't respond to family members.
When authorities tried to detain the unclothed Welch, he resisted, so deputies used a Taser. Welch then stopped breathing. EMS on the scene already tried to revive him, but Welch later died at St. Luke's Hospital in Conroe.
An autopsy has been ordered, and an investigation is underway by the Montgomery County Sheriff's Office's Major Crimes Unit, the Texas Rangers and the county's district attorney’s office.
