Some important information for College Station landlords.
The City of College Station will begin registering all single family and duplex rentals today. Under this program there will be a $15 annual fee that must be paid within the next 90 days. The city is doing this with the hope of gaining the ability to identify a local contact person who may be contacted in case there are problems that be detrimental to the individual property, the surrounding neighborhood, or the tenants living in the property.
The concept of Rental Registration has been discussed for years but was put on the back burner. It recently became necessary to bring the subject up again due to the growth of Texas A&M, which directly correlates with the amount of properties rented in College Station.
Failure to comply is a violation of city code.
Applications may be submitted online at www.cstx.gov/rentalregistration, by mail or by walk-in at the Planning and Development Office.
