Dozens of Hearne residents showed up Tuesday evening for the premier of the movie "American Violet."

The film is about a controversial drug bust that happened in the Robertson County town. It's inspired by the true story of a drug raid that took place in Hearne in 2000.

Regina Kelly was arrested in that raid, but later cleared of felony drug charges.

Texas law was subsequently changed as a result of the raid.

Kelly was no stranger to the law. She was arrested several times in Brazos County between 1995 and 2000. Charges included theft and delivery of a controlled substance.

Kelly also had several criminal mischief and theft charges out of Robertson County.
