Bryan Arson Suspect Apprehended at Mexico Border

A man News 3 first featured on Crime Stoppers in July 2008, has been arrested along the Texas/Mexico border and charged with arson.

Jerry Lee Thayer is now in the Brazos County jail without bond awaiting trial. He is accused of starting two fires at 4608 North Texas Avenue in Bryan on June 15, 2008.

A warrant for Thayer's arrest was in June 2008, but when he didn't turn himself into authorities, a manhunt that included several states and Mexico began.

With the help of other state and federal agencies, Thayer surrendered to the Texas Rangers on February 28.

At the time of the suspected arson, Thayer was on parole from Nevada for armed robbery.
