Two accidents on Highway 6 slowed traffic Tuesday afternoon.

According to College Station police, a 1998 Ford Explorer lost a tire causing the vehicle to go out of control on the 2600 block of Earl Rudder Freeway.

Traffic was at a standstill between Southwest Parkway and Harvey Rd.

A second collision occurred when a southbound 2003 Volkswagon failed to control its speed and struck a Chevy truck that was stopped for congested traffic flow in the southbound lanes of the 2400 block of Earl Rudder Freeway, due to the first collision.

Several of the occupants were taken to the hospital for observation and treatment of non-life threatening injuries.
