Some folks who need a fan to make it through the scorching summer are closer to getting one. Tuesday, Malek Services bought 50 fans to donate to the Salvation Army.
Although fans have been given out in years past, according to United Way employees, this year more people are depending on non-profits. As a result, those non-profits are sticking to the basics.
The Maleks hope they're one of many companies to step up and fill in the gap.
"We also challenge the other AC contractors to do the same and give back, so we're donating some boxed fans for those people who need it," said Brant Malek.
The Salvation Army says right now, those fans will go to Brazos County residents who must meet certain qualifications. The fans can only be picked up at certain times so the Salvation Army is asking anyone who wants one to give them a call at 979-361-0618.
