A local attorney will fill the justice of the peace position recently vacated by Romero "Big Q" Quintero.
Brazos County Commissioners have appointed Colleen Batchelor as Precinct 4 JP.
She'll be sworn in Tuesday and will fill the remainder of Quintero's term which expires in 2010. Batchelor has lived in Bryan since 1976 and served as an Associate Municipal Judge for the city for the last 24 years.
Quintero resigned from the position last week, following his arrest. Police say he took money for legal help.
In an email to News 3, Batchelor said, "I am committed to maintaining the highest level of integrity and decorum while in office, and will do my best to assure that the Precinct 4 JP office is administered in an impartial and efficient manner."
