62 Year Old Man Drowns at Lake Conroe

A 62 year old man drowned at Lake Conroe late Monday afternoon.

The man has been identified as Harvey Gerald Gordy.

The Walker County Sheriff's Office reports it happened near the Cagle boat ramp off FM 1375 at Lake Conroe at about 5:30 PM.

Investigators say Gordy had been fishing all day with a friend, and when they docked their boat, the friend took a nap, and Gordy went swimming.

When the sleeping man woke up, he couldn't find his friend and called for help.

A Montgomery County dive team helped with the search. Gordy's body was found about two hours later.
