There were many tears Thursday night at the A&M Consolidated High School campus as students, friends, family, and the public gathered to remember a 16-year-old known for brightening other people's lives.
Music filled the air at Tigerland Stadium in College Station.
The football field was filled with people grieving but also celebrating a life.
16-year-old A&M Consolidated High School Junior Sydney Jeter died Wednesday night after the SUV she was riding in rolled over on the access road of Highway 6 near William D. Fitch Parkway in south College Station.
"I couldn't ask for a better way to get her friends together and just pray for her. It's really awesome to see all these people that are here for her," said Kyla Drake, who is the Junior Class President.
She has been friends with Sydney since she was five.
"Her smile it's contagious. Once you see it," she added.
Sydney Jeter played on the soccer team and was a leader on the student council.
Her pastor at Aggieland Christian Church says she loved Christ and wanted others to know.
Jeter's boyfriend 17-year-old Blake Allen was behind the wheel and escaped with minor injuries.
He's also a senior wide receiver for the Consol Tigers.
Head Football Coach David Raffield hopes the community coming together offers comfort.
"And that is really really important in a time of crisis. I think it is a powerful message to all the kids as well as their parents seeing how much they care for one another," said Raffield.
Visitation is set for Monday from 6 P.M. to 8 P.M. at Hillier Funeral Home, while her funeral is happening Tuesday at 3 P.M. at Central Baptist Church.
Investigators are still trying to figure out why their vehicle lost control and crashed.
