A&M Students Create "Visit: Aggieland" Mobile App

Updated: Thu 8:57 AM, Nov 15, 2012

Two Texas A&M students created a mobile application called, “Visit: Aggieland,” that you can download to get information about restaurants, hotels, and other recreational activities in the Bryan/College Station area.

Nando Luna majors in electrical engineering at A&M, but he says he’s been studying computer science since he was eleven years old. Luna and his roommate, Ben Malena, decided to create the “Visit: Aggieland” app over the summer, with some help from the Bryan/College Station Convention and Visitors Bureau.

“We helped them gather all that information so that they would have enough to make their “Visit: Aggieland” App complete,” said Holli Conley, Bryan/College Station Convention and Visitors Bureau Manager of Communications and Public Relations.

Now, the app is available for download in the Apple app store. Luna says they have gotten more than 800 downloads since the app launched.

“I have it on my phone myself, it’s a great app not only for visitors, for residents as well who might not know everything there is out there to see in Bryan/College Station,” said Conley.

Luna says he's proud of his product so far, but there's still a lot of work to do. He says he plans to create “Visit” apps for other SEC conference college towns in the future.

Luna founded the company, D&N Solutions with Derek Burgman in January of 2012.

The team plans to launch the Android version of the app Friday.
