The man who won the auction for the specialty “12th Man” license plate gave the piece of memorabilia as a gift to an Aggie veteran on Saturday.
Texas A&M Regent Tony Buzbee won the auction for the license plate by paying $115,000 on Thursday. However, Buzbee then decided to give it away to veteran Dan Moran on Saturday before the A&M game against Alabama.
Moran earned both his undergraduate and MBA degrees at A&M. He also served two combat tours in Iraq, earning him a Purple Heart.
The money from the auction will go to A&M and the state.
