Aggie Kimberly Dunn has been working to make a name for herself ever since she won the Battle of the Bands at Texas A&M in November 2010. A year later, her first album is coming out.

"One Foot Over the Other" will be available Tuesday. It's a country album Dunn calls a musical diary of her life.

"They're the last stage of my college career, because I just graduated from A&M, which is great," Dunn said. "All these songs, they're love songs for the most part. Some are 'I'm a fierce girl and I can get through this' songs, and some are kind of tear-jerkers, but for the most part, it's a kind of a section of this last part of my life, this last year or so."

Following the 2010 win of the band battle at A&M, the 23-year-old says she met her management company and started work on the album in January.

Since then, "it's been working and playing shows, and here we are," she said.

In addition to her album, Dunn is one of the state finalists for the Texaco Country Showdown, a nationwide contest that has featured some of the country music world's biggest stars, including Martina McBride, Garth Brooks, Miranda Lambert, Neal McCoy, Sara Evans, Brad Paisley and Billy Ray Cyrus. She'll compete in New Mexico on November 5 for the Southwest Regional title and try to advance to the national finals in Nashville.

Before that, she'll be performing Saturday at Fitzwilly's in College Station starting at 10:00 p.m.
