HOUSTON -- A Houston soldier was among the victims in last weekend’s deadly bombing attack in Afghanistan’s capital.
On Saturday a suicide bomber rammed a truck filled with explosives into a NATO convoy in Kabul.
Seventeen people were killed, including Lt. Col. David Cabrera.
The 41-year-old man grew up in Houston. He graduated from Sam Houston High School and then later graduated from Texas A&M University.
He leaves behind a wife and four children.
Funeral arrangements were still being worked out.

This is yet another sad day in the Medical Service Corps. LTC David Cabrera was killed in action on 29 OCT 2011 while serving in Afghanistan. He was assigned to Uniformed Services University and was on a Worldwide Individual Augmentee System (WIAS) tasker to Afghanistan.
