Members of Texas A&M University’s Corps of Cadets and the entire Aggie Family continue to cope with the loss of two corps members who died Sunday (March 3) as the result of a car accident on U.S. 290 near Houston.
Amy Pacheco and Miguel Hernandez, both 18-year-old freshmen who were members of Company B-1, died when a car being driven the wrong way on the highway hit them head-on, authorities said. Francisco Campos, 18, a member of Company F-1, was the only survivor of the accident. He remains hospitalized in Houston.
Corps officials say there have been many requests for information on where to send donations to the families of Cadets Pacheco and Hernandez to help defray funeral costs. For links to sites set up to receive donations, go to http://corps.tamu.edu/Texas-AM-Corps-of-Cadets-News/pacheco-and-hernandez-family-donations.html. Both families say they greatly appreciate the kindness that has been shown them by the Aggie Family. The families have joined members of the Corps of Cadets in expressing gratitude for the many expressions of sympathy and support.
Services have been set for Cadet Pacheco. A prayer service is planned Friday (March 8) at 6:30 p.m. at Bethel Tabernacle, 1020 FM 1960 East in Houston, and burial services are planned for Saturday (March 9) at 1 p.m. also at Bethel Tabernacle.
Funeral services for Cadet Hernandez are pending.
