BRYAN - Working on a ranch is a tough job. Battling cancer is even more difficult.

"He gives so much to us, we figure it would be a good opportunity to give back to him," said Senior Demi Dean.

About 40 students from the Department of Biological and Agricultural Engineering at Texas A&M came together help their professor, Dr. Brock Faulkner, who was diagnosed with Leukemia in February.

"Once the student clubs found out we put our brains together, 'how can we help him out?' because he's always helped us out, students are his first priority," project leader and Senior Kevin Edwards said.

They decided to help Dr. Faulkner on his family's ranch.

"We're all Aggies here. We want to give back to the community. This is someone that's really close to us, it's someone that we all care about who's done a lot for us and it's important that we can do something for him," Dean said.

"I was able to get an internship last year and Dr. Faulkner was a very big help with that for me personally. I went to him and said 'Dr. Faulkner I want an internship.' and he said 'I know some people' and then I contacted those people based off of him. It means a lot that I can return the favor for him since he's helped us so much. And all the other students. He's kind of the favorite among us. He loves teaching, he loves his students, he puts a lot of work into his class. So for us, it just means a lot to give back to somebody who's given so much to us," Edwards said.

"It just means the Aggie spirit is working," Dean said.

Their heartfelt message to their beloved professor:

"Thank you for all the help that you've done for us, hopefully we can return the favor. We're going to do everything we can for you out here."
