COLLEGE STATION, Texas (AP) Thousands of Aggies and their supporters are expected to attend a memorial service for the beloved mascot, Reveille VII, who died in May.

Memorial services for the 12-year-old American Collie who died May 30 will be held Friday at Texas A&M University's Reed Arena, which seats 12,500.

The Houston Chronicle reports Reveille VII served as the university's mascot from 2001 to 2008, attending hundreds of events, including football games.

University President R. Bowen Loftin and Student Body President Reid Joseph will speak at the memorial service. There will also be a video of the mascot's most memorable moments.

The dog was euthanized after veterinarians concluded she was too sick to be treated.
