BRYAN, Texas An annual Thanksgiving feast in Bryan is turning 25 this year.
Members of Morning Star Missionary Baptist Church in Bryan are cooking food for anyone who needs a place to eat Thursday.
News 3 has a look at the hundreds of meals being made now.
The food is being unpacked and prepped for a meal of thanks.
"I'm most thankful for my health and strength. I'm most thankful to be alive. I'm thankful that I have family and friends," said Gloria Kennard.
Kennard has been preparing meals for this feast of food for 25 years now as part of Morning Star Missionary Baptist Church.
On Thanksgiving they come here for more space and a bigger kitchen to Pleasant Grove Missionary Baptist Church on West Martin Luther King Jr. Street in Bryan.
This year they have 30 turkeys from Readfield Meats.
"The meal is for the needy, the sick, the shut-in or whoever needs a meal. And there's turkey and dressing, ham, green beans, corn, potato salad, cranberry sauce, cake or pie and a slice of bread," Kennard.
As the turkeys are being prepared everyone who comes on Thanksgiving should be able to leave on a full stomach. Last year they served a new record 540 meals, while this year they are shooting for 600.
Kennard has filled plenty of stomachs over the years out of love.
"Thousands up thousands upon thousands because when we first started the meal was very slow, but as time progressed the meal is just out of sight... Just come by and have a nice Thanksgiving with one another because I need you, you need me and we all need the Lord," she added.
Filling a need one person at a time.
The Thanksgiving meal starts with a worship service at 10:30 A.M. Thursday with a meal from 11:30 A.M. to 3:30 P.M. at Pleasant Grove Missionary Baptist Church.
The church is located at 310 West M.L.K. Jr. Street in Bryan.
