The fire is still smoldering, but it is contained.

Firefighters and the Texas Forest Service are working to keep a house fire from spreading to the surrounding forest.

Walker County Emergency Management reports a home on George Wilson Road in the western part of the County caught fire early Monday afternoon and by 2:30 was reported a total loss.

Now the Huntsville Fire Department, volunteers from Pine Prairie and the Forest Service are plowing a line to keep the fire from reaching the woods.

No injuries have been reported.

No word yet on how the fire started.
