The Walker County Sheriff's Office busted what they say was a theft ring that stole more than 100- thousand dollars worth of property, and they believe it was all stolen in part to support a drug habit.
Bryan McGee, 37, of Hull has been arrested for burglary of a habitation and burglary of a building. Deputies say early last December, Mcgee targeted more than five different properties and stole a variety of electronics, vehicles, and tools. Investigators say they were able to recover some of the property still in Mcgee's possession.
Investigators say they believe McGee was using the burglaries to support his use of methamphetamine.
Further investigation shows the items taken spanned four counties with a possible connection to William Merek III, 33, of Willis. Deputies say Merek was found with more stolen property and was arrested for felony theft.
Investigators say they believe more people are involved and they expect to make more arrests.
