BRYAN, Texas - Atmos Energy is putting out a warning for its customers to double check the validity of those asking for gas payments. It says a recent scam is being used on its customers. They tell Atmos that the callers demand immediate payment of past due balances.
The company told us it does contact customers with past due balances by phone to offer payment options, but says it will verify all account information before proceeding to take any payment.
If you have any concerns about the legitimacy of the call, please hang up and call Atmos Energy at 1-888-286-6700.
