Austin County Ranch Hand Convicted Of Capital Murder

The trial last ten days, but it only took an Austin County jury two hours to find a 24-year-old ranch hand guilty of capital murder in the death of a Houston doctor killed at his Bellville area ranch.

For shooting Dr. Jorge Mario Gonzalez on August 22nd, 2009, Noel Galvan-Cerna received a life sentence. Austin County's District Attorney made the decision to not to seek the death penalty.

Cerna is one of four suspects involved in the attack and only the second to be convicted of murder.

During the trial, jurors heard testimony on how the Gonzalez family used their weekend ranch as a quiet an peaceful getaway from big city life.
