BCS Convention & Visitors Bureau Wins Award at Statewide Conference

Recently, at the 2012 Texas Association of Convention & Visitors Bureau (TACVB) Mid-Winter Conference, the Bryan-College Station Convention & Visitors Bureau (BCSCVB), was presented with the Judge’s Choice Award for Best Local Awareness Campaign in the annual TACVB Idea Fair. The contest took place at the TACVB Annual Conference in August, but awards were presented in January.
BCSCVB competed against several cities including Plano, Beaumont, and Waco to win this award.

To win the award, the BCSCVB staff went the extra mile. The staff invited the local gourmet food trucks to park outside the BCSCVB building during lunch. As people visited the food trucks for lunch, the BCSCVB staff greeted the visitors and gave them information about the area as well as how the BCSCVB is here to help them and the community.

“It is such an honor to be recognized as one of the leading CVB’s in Texas that demonstrates unique and innovative campaigns to promote tourism in Texas as well as your own backyard,” Shannon Overby, BCSCVB Executive Director, said. “Through programs like this, we hope to educate the community about the importance and benefits of tourism to our local economy.”

The TACVB Idea Fair is hosted each year at the TACVB annual Conference. It is a time when CVB’s from all over the State of Texas present new tourism marketing ideas that have been successful in their cities. A panel of tourism experts chooses the winners.

The Texas Association of Convention and Visitor Bureaus, which recently celebrated its 39th year at their annual meeting in San Marcos, is the largest state CVB association in the United States, with more than 150 member bureaus and 400 individual members.
