With less than a month to go until Bryan Texas Utilities' longtime general manager retires, an interim has been named.
Gary Miller will move up from his group manager position at the Bryan power provider to the interim GM spot on July 1, a day after Dan Wilkerson retires after 34 working at BTU.
“Because of Dan Wilkerson, the General Manager position at BTU will always have big shoes to fill,” said Miller in a city press release. “I’m looking forward to the new challenges with this position.”
Miller has been at BTU since 2005, where he oversees Qualified Scheduling Entities Power Marketing & Power Production. He previously worked at TXU, Central and South West Services and ERCOT among others.
"Gary Miller’s extensive experience both at BTU and in the energy industry makes him the ideal person to fill the General Manager position at this time," Acting Bryan City Manager Kean Register said in the statement.
Register had expressed a desire to take over as the permanent general manager. He had been a group manager at BTU like Miller, but his position was eliminated during restructuring. Register has been Bryan's acting city manager for more than 20 months.
