Drivers who found themselves at the intersection of University Drive and Spring Loop were faced with what many would consider a not-so-typical smell and sight for a Wednesday afternoon.
Traffic came to a halt in every direction around 2:00 p.m. after the truck spilled more than ten tons of treated human waste across the eastbound lanes of University Drive.
City officials say the truck somehow overturned as it was making a left hand turn on to University Drive from Spring Loop. It was en route to a nearby compost facility.
Crews from both Bryan and College Station teamed up, armed with shovels, brooms, rakes and many others driving heavy machinery.
The treated sewage was then transferred to a dump truck; and the overturned truck was then turned back on all fours where traffic slowly began to pick back up after about two and a half hours of detours and delays.
The driver of the truck was not injured, and no other vehicles are believed to have been involved.
