Updated: Sun 11:21 PM, Mar 25, 2012

Texas Aggies are giving back in the largest service program of its kind in the country.

More than 60 members of the Texas A&M Football team were part of hundreds of projects happening across the area for Big Event.

The 30th annual Aggie tradition brought the gridiron guys to Twin City Mission where they spruced up the grounds while other groups like Greeks, service groups and other students pitched in throughout the community as a way to give back.

"It's good to give back and be able to you know have a good feeling about yourself, you know coming in and helping," said Dustin Harris, a cornerback for the Aggie Football team.

"Today they're not football players, they're Aggies. You know they are a part of this big service project the Big Event and they're giving back to our community," said Ron Crozier, Twin City Mission Community Relations Director.

"This team is real special and to come out here and do that is, it's really fun and we're just really enjoying it," said Ryan Swope, a wide receiver for the Aggie Football team.

"I just like helping people and like being a part of Texas A&M just a lot of us getting together," said Natalie Escalante, member of the Destino Bible Study group at Texas A&M.

This year more than 17,000 students signed up to volunteer.
