College Station Police officers accompanied Santa Claus at the Southgate Village Apartments Saturday morning for breakfast with local residents celebrating the 9th annual Blue Santa Gift Delivery.
Chief of Police Jeff Capps says the meal wasn't just about getting in the holiday spirit; he says he wants the community to feel comfortable around law enforcement and hopes this keeps the line of communication open in the future.
"It's always positive when we get to get out and meet new people and build that trust between us and the folks that live here," Capps said.
CSPD said more than $3,000 worth of toys was donated to 19 families, providing gifts to 53 young children.
CSPD Citizen’s Police Academy Alumni Association, CSPD Police Officer’s Association, Target, Social Lounge, Cedar Lane, Kettle Restaurant and Ms. Kathy Young-Santa’s Special Helper all helped made Saturday's event possible. HEB donated all the food and drinks for the breakfast.
