A body found on a lake off the Spokane Rive is that of a College Station native and Texas A&M graduate.

Air Force Airman First Class Adam Lassiter went missing after a canoe trip on March 31. His body was found by fishermen on Long Lake Sunday. An autopsy was conducted Monday morning, according to the Spokane County Sheriff's Office.

The medical examiner determined the cause of death was accidental drowning.

On April 17, the 26-year-old's canoe and backpack were found pinned against a bridge on the river in eastern Washington. Major search operations had already been suspended along a 30-mile stretch of the river, which had been particularly dangerous this spring due to record rainfall in the area.

Memorial services for Lassiter are currently scheduled for June 2 at First Baptist Church in Bryan. He will be buried at the Aggie Field of Honor in College Station.

One of eight children raised in College Station, Lassiter was born with a genetic disorder, but overcame physical and mental issues to attend A&M, enter the Corps of Cadets, and eventually enlist in the Air Force. He was stationed at Fairchild Air Force Base near Spokane, along with his wife, Erin.

Authorities in Spokane had said it could be June or July before Lassiter's body was found due to the conditions on the river.
