The deaths of Kaufman County District Attorney Mike McLeland and his wife Cynthia have hit the staff at the Brazos County District Attorney's office hard.
Thursday, the staff displayed black ribbons on their lapels in memory of the McLeland's.
Their deaths this past Saturday came about two months after Kaufman County Assistant District Attorney Mark Hasse was gunned down as he went to work. Hasse was killed on January 31st and his death remains unsolved.
Brazos County D.A. Jarvis Parsons told News 3 his staff is wearing the ribbons as a sign of solidarity and respect. He says he and his staff are keeping the McLeland family in their thoughts and prayers during this difficult time and that they will also wear the ribbons on Friday.
Parsons says the work he and his staff does is dangerous and that they put their lives on the line daily, but they so because it's their duty to serve the people of Brazos County.
