BRYAN, Texas The Brazos County Tax Office is making a major move after County Commissioners unanimously approved plans for a new building Tuesday night.
A new $2.8 million facility will be built at the intersection of Boonville Road and Pendleton Road to serve customers better.
The tax office has been at their location in Downtown Bryan since the early 80's and Tax Assessor - Collector Kristeen Roe says the building, which used to be a Western Auto Store is antiquated and has never been functional for their needs.
"We're going to have a central lobby and everyone will go to the one location instead of having to find which department you have to go to to be served. And we'll be able to have a single clerk take care of your property tax and your motor vehicle and your voter registration which are the three separate services, primary services we offer," said Kristeen Roe.
The tax office hopes to relocate to the new location within a year's time and will even have a drive-thru window.
