First responders of Brenham are getting "pumped" up for their annual Guns and Hoses Blood Drive. The friendly neighborhood rivalry is all in an effort to see which department can get the most blood donated.
The police department hopes to keep the title, and bragging rights, from the fire department. "We always like to say as the police department, we are always going to be victorious in these things," said Brenham Police Department Corporal, Chris Jackson. "Sometimes we win, sometimes we lose, but at the end of the day it's good that all the blood is being donated and it is going to good use."
Even though it's only a friendly competition, the Brenham Fire Department is bringing out the big guns to flush their competition out.
"I hope the fire department wins because the police department won last year and I think we were 6 people short giving for the fire department, so this year I hope the fire department wins," said Tank Nienstedt, Brenham Fire Department Apparatus Operator.
The drive will be at the Fireman's Training Center Saturday in Brenham from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
