The motive remains uncertain...
"Incidents like this are very rare in Brenham; we don't really know the motives at this time,” said Brenham Police Public Information Officer Chris Jackson.
But the search to find two suspects who broke into a Brenham home and killed a man inside -- is clearly underway. Emergency responders were dispatched to a home in the 1200 block of Garrett Street just before 1:30 Thursday morning. At the scene, police discovered 32-year old Keith O'Brien Coleman had been shot.
“The two suspects that allegedly made entry into the residence got into an altercation with the victim,” said Jackson.
Witnesses heard shots and say they saw two black men run from the scene.
“That altercation led to the gunshots being fired; two shots were fired and the suspects fled the scene,” said Jackson.
Coleman was taken to Brenham's Scott & White Hospital where he died a short time later. Investigators are questioning witnesses to find the two suspects and are encouraging residents to report any unusual activity in the area.
“Call Police,” Jackson added. “Call 911 and get the best description of the suspects especially which direction they're traveling.”
Brenham police are asking anyone with information to please call 979-337-7337.
